Washing a wig at home is easy if you respect the fiber. Synthetic wigs and human hair wigs do not want the same routine.
Before water
Detangle gently from the ends. Washing a tangled wig can tighten knots.
Synthetic wigs
Use cool water and synthetic wig shampoo. Swish gently, rinse, blot, and air dry. Do not wring or blow-dry unless the maker allows it.
Human hair wigs
Use a gentle sulfate-free shampoo and conditioner. Keep the cap from stretching, rinse well, and style only after the wig is mostly dry.
Bottom line
Wash gently, dry without rough handling, and never treat synthetic fiber like natural hair.
